School Supplies Drive 2016

Again this year Greenwood will be supporting the pupils at Longdale Elementary School with donations of school supplies. This drive runs throughout August.

Click here for the shopping list. The shopping list will also be published in each bulletin in August. Don't forget the Virginia state sales tax holiday on August 5 — 7 when you can purchase qualifying school supplies, clothing, footwear, hurricane and emergency preparedness items without having to pay sales tax.

Please bring your donations to the Sanctuary through August 30. Your contributions are always appreciated!

CARITAS 2016

Because there were numerous people who answered the call to help, our church will be able to host CARITAS again this year September 24 through October 1.

Since it takes a whole church to have a successful week, there will be lots of opportunities to help.  If you would like to donate money, we hope to find a laundry facility to wash and fold our guests’ clothes. There will be other needs, so we hope you will be led to volunteer.

One thing everyone is asked to do is pray for the success of this mission project. We’ve set a limit of 24 CARITAS guests and we’ll be calling on those who gave us their names during the survey to volunteer. But all are welcome to help out. See Adamarye Patteson to volunteer.

Flood Relief Buckets: Greenwood contributed 4 buckets and enough money for three more. Thanks!

Food Donation Connection

Greenwood continues to help feed the hungry in Glen Allen through our distribution of free food every Friday at 6 p.m.

Food is collected from participating restaurants by church members. The August pick up rotation schedule is posted in the narthex and available online here.

Be still, and know that I am God! I am exalted among the nations, I am exalted in the earth. - Psalm 46:10 (NRSV)

As the people of God, we are called to develop our faith through the understanding of God’s love and to be a church dedicated to prayer.

We believe that Christ is calling us to serve by being present and welcoming to all, regardless of ethnic, cultural or economic background.

God calls us to give our time, talent and monetary resources to proclaim effectively the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
